Adverse Events Leading to Discontinuation of Treatment: - Fifteen percent of approximately 4000 patients who received fluoxetine in North American clinical trials discontinued treatment due to an adve
rse event. The more common events causing discontinuation included: Psychiatric, primarily nervousness, anxiety, and insomnia; digestive, primarily nausea; nervous system, primarily dizziness, astheni
a and headaches; skin, primarily rash and pruritus. In obsessive compulsive disorder studies, 12.1% of fluoxetine treated patients discontinued treatment early because of adverse events. Anxiety, and
rash, at incidences of less than 2%, were the most frequently reported events.

Drug Interactions
Moclobemide (e.g., Manerex)¡XThe risk of developing serious unwanted effects, including the serotonin syndrome, is increased. Use of moclobemide with fluoxetine is not recommended. Also, it is recomme
ded that 7 days be allowed between stopping treatment with moclobemide and starting treatment with fluoxetine, and it is recommended that 5 weeks be allowed between stopping treatment with fluoxetine
and starting treatment with moclobemide

How should this medicine be used?
Prozac should be taken exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
Prozac usually is taken once or twice a day. To be effective, it should be taken regularly. Make a habit of taking it at the same
time you do some other daily activity.
It may be 4 weeks before you feel any relief from your depression, but the drug's effects should last about 9 months after a 3-month treatment regimen
. For obsessive-compulsive disorder, the full effect may take 5 weeks to appear.
